JetHawks Score 21 to Pound Quakes

LANCASTER, Calif. - The JetHawks scored a season-high 21 runs on a season-high 21 hits in a 21-1 win over the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes on Friday night at The Hangar.

The JetHawks (25-17, 58-54) scored three runs in the first, five runs in the second and eight runs in the third to jump out to an early 16-0 lead in support of starter Logan Longwith (3-4). The right-hander didn't allow a hit until the fifth inning and picked up his second-straight win with his first quality start of the season.

Lancaster chased Quakes starter Wills Montgomerie (0-1) in the first inning after he walked four batters and gave up two hits including an RBI-double to Tyler Nevin. Montomgerie allowed three runs over 0.2 innings in his Cal League debut.

The JetHawks sent 10 batters to the plate in the second inning. Wes Rogers delivered his second two-run single of the game in the frame.

Fourteen batters hit for Lancaster in the third inning. Vince Fernandez hit a two-run double and Max George drove home two runs with a triple.

Longwith ended up tossing six innings and allowing one run on three hits.

The JetHawks added to the lead with two two-run home runs in the sixth inning. Vince Fernandez blasted his 19th home run of the season and Joel Diaz hit his third against first baseman Nick Yarnall who came on to pitch in the middle of the inning.

The game marked Lancaster's first 20-run game since a 29-11 win over Stockton in 2016.

The series continues on Saturday night. Antonio Santos (2-1) is scheduled to pitch against Austin Hamilton (1-3). First pitch is 6:05 p.m.
