Kinston Indians News Release

Lonnie Chisenhall provided the early pop in the top of the first inning for his second homer in as many days, but Frederick would comeback to win a see-saw affair 7-5 to even up the series at one apiece.

Chisenhall (2-for-5) extended his season long hitting streak to 14 games with his team-leading 15th long ball of the season to give Kinston the early 2-0 lead. But the Keys would counter with a two-run dinger by Robbie Widlansky in the bottom of the first off starter Eric Berger. Widlansky would go 4-for-4 and is now hitting 14-for-26 (.538) against Kinston this season, including all three of his home runs coming against K-Tribe pitching.

In the bottom of the second, back-to-back errors by Kinston shortstop Ronald Rivas resulted in two runs crossing the plate, as Frederick took the lead 4-2.

Berger would bounce back well though and toss six strong, allowing those four runs, just two earned, on six hits, two walks and five strikeouts.

Berger would also leave the game with the lead as Kinston got a run in the fourth on a Sean Gleason balk. Richard Martinez would score from third on the play to cut the lead to 4-3.

Then in the sixth inning with runners on first and second, a two-out bloop hit by Lucas Montero scored Adam Davis and Ryan Blair on a bang-bang play at the plate to regain the lead for the Indians 5-4.

The lead wouldn't stick, however, as Kinston reliever Chen-Chang Lee had trouble finding the strike zone in the seventh inning. Lee allowed a leadoff single to Ryan Adams then hit Brandon Waring, allowed a single by Robbie Widlansky to load the bases, and then walked in two runs by issuing free passes to both Tyler Henson and Kraig Binick. Lee would surrender three runs on two hits, three walks and a hit batter in the inning and the Keys would hold on to a 7-5 win.

Kinston will try to take game three of the four game set tomorrow night as the Indians will have Alexander Perez (1-0, 0.00) make his second start for the K-Tribe.
