Wisconsin Rapids Rafters News Release

Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.-The Lakeshore Chinooks (43-13, 19-3) continued their offensive onslaught as they swept the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters (20-36, 8-12) by the score of 12-1. Lakeshore scored 29 runs in the two game series as they won their ninth consecutive game overall.

For the second consecutive game, the Chinooks scored in the top of the 1st when Zach Bowers (Georgia) powered a two run home run out to right center with two outs to give Lakeshore a 2-0 lead right off the bat. Lakeshore would play home run derby all night as they hit four round trippers over the course of the contest.

The Rafters would cut into the lead in the bottom of the second when Ricky Ramirez (University of Illinois at Chicago) hit his first double of the season to drive in Campbell Wear (UC Santa Barbara). However, the Rafters could never keep the Chinooks down as Lakeshore scored at least once in the first four innings.

They were aided by an outstanding pitching performance from starter Shaun Anderson (Florida). Anderson settled down after an erratic first couple of innings to at one point retire 16 consecutive Rafters in his seven and a third innings pitched. The righty also struck out six and scattered four hits.

The Rafters had to use five pitchers in an effort to hold down Lakeshore as the Chinooks took the season series with Sunday's victory. Wisconsin Rapids' home stand continues Monday as the Kalamazoo Growlers will visit historic Witter Field. It is Social Media Monday as fans who interact with the Rafters online will have chances to win neat prizes. First pitch is at 7:05 pm.
