Madison, Wis. - Two homeruns by the Bullfrogs designated hitter Ryan Howell (Chabot College) were more than enough on Sunday night as Green Bay defeated the Madison Mallards by a final score of 9-2 to sweep the two-game series and win their fifth straight game

Howell's first home run was a three-run shot, scoring Dean Long (Emporia State) and Matt Beaty (Belmont) giving the Bullfrogs a 3-0 lead in the first inning. Long finished the game 1-for-3, extending his hitting streak to eight games on Sunday.

Pete Alonso (Florida) answered back with a solo home run in the first inning. The home run was Alonso's Northwoods League leading 15th homerun of the season. Alonso finished the game 1-for-3 for the Mallards.

Howell also had a solo homerun in the fifth inning. Howell, who finished the game 2-for-5, now has four home runs in his last five games. Three other Bullfrogs had RBI's in the ten hit affair for the Green Bay.

Mike Ellenbest (Saginaw Valley State) picked up his third win of the season for the Bullfrogs on Sunday. Ellenbest allowed just two runs on four hits while striking out five over six innings. The Green Bay Bullfrogs bullpen Cody Pollack (Midland College), Dan Becks (St. Edwards), and Justin Mullins (UC Davis) kept the Mallards hitless in relief of Ellenbest.

Tyler Buffett (Oklahoma State) took his third loss of the year lasting only three and one-third innings, allowing six runs on seven hits while striking out three.

The Bullfrogs will now head to Battle Creek, Michigan for a two game series on Monday and Tuesday. Corey Fischer (Madison College) will be making his eighth start of the season for the Green Bay Bullfrogs on Monday. First pitch Monday is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. (EST) from C.O. Brown Stadium.
