Madison, WI - July 27, 2014. The Madison Mallards (12-13, 30-28) fell tonight to the Green Bay Bullfrogs (11-11, 28-29) after being held to just four hits to finish their three game home series at the "Duck Pond."

Bullfrogs designated hitter Ryan Howell (Chabot) had a three run shot in the first inning to put the Bullfrogs up 3-0. He added a solo home run in the fifth and finished 2-for-5 with four RBI.

Third baseman Pete Alonso (Florida) responded in the bottom of the second with a shot of his own, a 418-foot blast over the Budweiser Rooftop to bring the Mallards deficit to two. Alonso is now tied for the Northwoods League lead in home runs with 15.

The Bullfrogs then added three in the fourth and three more in the fifth inning.

The Mallards scored their final run in the sixth when first baseman Austin Barr (Stanford) came in to score on catcher Matt Thaiss's (Virginia) single. Barr reached second on an error by Bullfrogs right fielder Ivan Vieitez (Lenoir-Rhyne).

Mallards starter Tyler Buffett (Oklahoma State) allowed six runs on seven hits in 3.1 innings of work while striking out three in the loss.

Mike Ellenbest (Saginaw Valley State) tossed six innings in his third start against the Mallards, allowing two runs while striking out five in the win.

The Mallards travel to play the Wisconsin Woodchucks in a two game series beginning at 7:05 pm tomorrow. After the series, they face the La Crosse Loggers in a home and home doubleheader on Wednesday. The first game will be played in La Crosse at 12:05 pm, and game two is scheduled for 7:05 pm at the "Duck Pond."

Wednesday night is Pickett's Paving Madison's Ugliest Driveway Giveaway. Fans can register online to enter the contest. It is also Joey's Song Epilepsy Awareness Night, and the Mallards will wear purple jerseys that are auctioned off during the game.
