Childers Dominates In Lynx Win

Matt Childers had his third excellent start in a row, throwing 7.0 shutout innings and the Lynx bats came alive for 10 hits and a 4-2 win.

The win takes the Lynx record to 10-8 (6-1 at home) and drops the Indians to 12-9.

Players Of The Game: Starter Matt Childers shut the opposition out for the second straight time, striking out three Indianapolis Indians en route to his second win of the season. Childers held Indy to five hits.

Game Recap: The pitchers were ahead of the batters again Sunday, particularly through the first four and a half innings, as Matt Childers and Indianapolis starter Sean Burnett kept both teams off the scoresheet. But the Lynx would strike with two big runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. Ron Calloway and Danny Sandoval led the frame off with back-to-back singles before being cashed in by Chris Roberson. The two runs batted in increased his team-leading RBI total to 14. Ottawa scored again in the bottom of the seventh on Jason Jaramillo's sacrifice fly to score Dusty Wathan for what would prove to be the winning run. Indianapolis put two runs on the board in the top of the eighth to narrow the gap to 3-2 but the Lynx would answer back with an insurance run in the bottom of the inning. Brennan King doubled home Chris Coste. Yoel Hernandez came in and threw a perfect ninth for his third save of the season and the Lynx seventh win at home, compared to two losses.

Next Game: The Lynx and Indians face-off for the fourth and final game of their four-game series Monday afternoon at Lynx Stadium. Game time is 1:05 pm..
