Chihuahuas Bring out the Brooms

April 24, 2018 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
El Paso Chihuahuas News Release

The El Paso Chihuahuas beat Las Vegas 6-3 Monday night to sweep the 51s. It also completed the first multi-city road trip sweep in team history for the Chihuahuas, who won all seven games of the trip to Reno and Las Vegas. The Chihuahuas seven-game winning streak is one shy of the team record.

Travis Jankowski reached base four times atop El Paso's order Monday, going 3-for-3 with a home run, three RBIs and a walk, falling a triple shy of a cycle. The first four Las Vegas batters reached against Luis Perdomo but he settled down and pitched seven strong innings in his Triple-A debut. New York Mets lefty Jason Vargas started for Las Vegas on injury rehab and tossed four innings, taking the loss.

The Chihuahuas hit a home run in the ninth inning of all three games in Las Vegas. El Paso's 14-5 record is the best 19-game start in team history, surpassing the 12-7 start in 2015. The Chihuahuas do not play on Tuesday.
