Salt Lake Bees News Release

SALT LAKE CITY - The Albuquerque Isotopes outlasted the Salt Lake Bees 12-9 in a marathon Monday night game to avoid a series sweep. The Bees jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead after two innings as Kaleb Cowart brought home Eric Young Jr. on a first inning single and Jabari Blash hit his Minor League best ninth home run on a solo shot in the second. The Isotopes would take over the lead and not look back with four runs in the third inning and another five in the fourth to make it 9-3. The Bees would climb back into it with a four-run fourth coming on a two-RBI Cowart double and a Chris Carter two-run homer, but would never get closer as the two teams traded two runs in the sixth and Albuquerque scored an insurance run in the eighth.

The two teams combined to use 10 pitchers with Salt Lake reliever Alex Klonowski (1-2) taking the loss after two and two-thirds innings with 11 hits and 10 runs (nine earned). Bees relievers Taylor Cole and Akeel Morris allowed one run over the final three and two-thirds innings to keep the game close.

The Bees take Tuesday off before starting a five-game series at El Paso. All Bees road games can be heard on 1280 The Zone with Steve Klauke calling the action. Klauke will call his 3501st game on Wednesday night.
