Chiefs top Lynx, rematch tomorrow

OTTAWA - The Lynx dropped a 5-3 decision to the Syracuse Chiefs Wednesday, dropping their preseason record to 6-5-3.

Starter Matt Childers had a strong game, limiting the Chiefs to just one run over 5 innings pitched. Jim Crowell didn't fare so well, allowing the Chiefs' other 4 runs in his 3 innings of work. Jeff Farnsworth came in and threw a perfect 9th inning.

Danny Sandoval went 3-for-4 with a run scored and another run batted in. Jim Rushford had 2 hits and 2 RBI, while Gary Burnham had 2 hits and 2 runs scored. Brennan King and former Lynx Lou Collier rounded out the Lynx offence, collecting a hit apiece.

The Lynx face the Syracuse Chiefs again tomorrow at the Jays' home, the Englebert Complex in Dunedin. The Lynx preseason ends Saturday when the Lynx take on Durham.

The Ottawa Lynx will open the 2007 season, their first season as the Triple-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies, in Rochester on April 6. The Lynx home opener is scheduled for April 17th against the Charlotte Knights at 6:05 pm. Single-game tickets will be on sale at the Lynx Box Office starting April 2nd at 10 am.
