
Chiefs Top Loons Thursday Night

PEORIA, IL - The Peoria Chiefs struck for two runs in the first and one in the second and never trailed in the game Thursday night in a 4-2 win at O'Brien Field.
The Chiefs jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first with two runs off starter Ethan Martin (4-4) on a two-run double by Midwest League veteran Kyler Burke.
But the Loons cut the lead in half in the second on a solo home run by Alfredo Silverio, his sixth of the year.
Peoria increased their lead to 3-1 in the second. Junior Lake reached on a walk and scored on a double by David Macias.
The Loons again pulled to within one run in the fifth when Lake threw past first baseman Rebel Ridling on a double play attempt, allowing Anthony Hatch to score.
The Chiefs added an insurance run in the ninth off Nathan Eovaldi on an RBI single by Jovan Rosa.
Martin allowed three runs (all earned) in four innings for the loss. Eovaldi, the other half of the Loons' tandem starters, allowed one run in four relief innings.
Tony Delmonico recorded two hits to extend his hitting streak to eight games.
The Loons continue their 10-game road trip Friday night with the Loons' final game in Peoria. Right-hander JonMichael Redding (9-3, 4.29 ERA) will start for the Loons. Righty Marcus Hatley (5-5, 4.46) will start for Peoria. Game time is 7:30pm.
