Chiefs too much for Tips

Four goals by four different players and 30 saves from Dustin Tokarski led the Spokane Chiefs to a 4-1 win over the Everett Silvertips on Wednesday night in the Spokane Arena. The win is Spokane's 39th of the year and gives the Chiefs 83 points, two more than the Tri-City Americans, Saturday's opponents.

Chiefs Head Coach Bill Peters also won his 100th career game in Spokane, the third most for any coach in franchise history.

Spokane went up 3-0 with a goal apiece in the first, second and third before Everett got on the board. Justin McCrae tallied in the first with a wrist shot, short side, at 7:00 on the power play. Trevor Glass screamed in a cleaned up a rebound of a McCrae shot at 13:37 of the second and Chris Bruton's backhander from across the crease at 1:46 of the third staked Spokane to the comfortable lead. Lukas Vartovnik scored the only goal for Everett at 4:30 of the third.

Levko Koper finished the scoring at 8:18 from Tyler Johnson and Glass. Glass, McCrae and Bruton all and a goal and an assist.

Tokarski was named the North Cedar Dental Star of the Game and earned is 23rd game of the year.

Wednesday night's game was the start of a three game stretch at home for Spokane. The Chiefs will host the Seattle Thunderbirds on Friday night and Tri- City on Saturday. Plenty of tickets remain for each night.
