Everett, Wash. - The Spokane Chiefs logged their second pre-season win Saturday afternoon as they came away with a 3-2 victory over the Portland Winterhawks at Angel of the Winds Arena.

Just like Friday's contest, Spokane was first on the board as overage forward Conner Roulette potted his first goal of the pre-season just over the halfway mark of the opening frame. Chase Bertholet and Brayden Crampton earned assists on the play.

Portland was quick to answer, though, scoring less than two minutes later to tie things up 1-1.

The Chiefs regained the lead at 2:19 in the second period when rookie defenseman Owen Schoettler found the twine with help from Berkly Catton and 15-year-old forward Cohen Harris, but the Winterhawks evened the score again at the 12:19 mark on a power play goal by Nicholas Johnson.

Spokane capitalized on a power play of their own just 54 seconds into the third period when Catton notched his third goal of the pre-season to take back a 3-2 lead. Roulette and Schoettler earned assists on what would end up being the game-winning goal.

Cooper Michaluk and Dawson Cowan split time in net, with Michaluk stopping all but one of 28 Portland shots faced and Cowan turning aside 18-of-19.

The Chiefs went 1-for-4 on the power play and 5-for-6 on the penalty kill. They outshot the Winterhawks in the third period 13-10, but were outshot overall 47-28.

Up next, the Chiefs will continue exhibition play at Spokane Arena on Thursday evening as they take on the Portland Winterhawks at 6:00 p.m.
