
Chiefs Fall 4-3 in Front of Sellout Crowd

Peoria, IL - Despite scoring three runs, the Peoria Chiefs fell to the Clinton LumberKings 4-3 Saturday night at Dozer Park in front of a sellout crowd of 7,185. Leandro Cedeno went 2-for-3 with an RBI earning the Pekin Insurance Beyond the Expected Player of the Game.
The Chiefs entered the fifth inning trailing 3-0, but got on the board against Clinton starter Tanner Andrews. Alexis Wilson led off with a single and advanced to second on a wild pitch. After advancing to third on a groundout from Josh Shaw, Wilson scored on Edwin Figuera's groundout to cut the deficit to 3-1.
Peoria continued their momentum in the bottom of the sixth, tying the game. Delvin Perez led off with a walk and advanced to third on a double by Brendan Donovan. Cedeno hit a sac fly to score Perez and Brandon Riley tied the game at three on a single to score Donovan from second.
Michael Brettell took a no-decision pitching 5 1/3 innings allowing three runs on eight hits with three walks and three strikeouts. Franyel Casadilla pitched 1 1/3 innings allowing only two hits with one walk and three strikeouts. Tony Locey (1-2) took the loss after pitching 1 1/3 innings allowing one unearned run on one hit with two strikeouts. Sebastian Tabata pitched a perfect final inning, striking out two.
The Chiefs continue their three-game series with the Clinton LumberKings on Sunday at 5:05 p.m and it's Homer's Birthday at Dozer Park with a Homer, Toy Story Toothbrush Holder Giveaway to the first 500 kids 12 and under. The broadcast can be heard, starting with the Pre-Game Show at 4:50 p.m. on the Peoria Chiefs Tune-In Page, which is free and also has a free app for smartphones and tablets. For Homer's birthday, he will be joined by some of his friends, Rocky, from the Peoria Rivermen, Rooty from A&W, Wolfie from 104.9 the Wolf, and Mattress man from Verlo. Plus mini Homer will throw out a first pitch. Sunday is also Toy Story Day with Buzz Lightyear, Woody, Jessie, and Bo Peep. Prepare for Toy Story themed games and much more! There will also be a Tony Locey player poster giveaway to the first 1000 fans through the gates, sponsored by CityLink and PJ Star. With school just around the corner, the Chiefs have teamed up with Midwest Technical Institute for a School Supply Drive. Supplies can be dropped off at Dozer Park at the August 11, and 12 games. Sunday's game also features PNC Kids Sunday where kids 12 and under get $5 admission and post-game autographs on the concourse following the game. All fans can play catch on the field before the game from 4:00-4:20 p.m. It's also Bark in the Park Sunday with TAPS at the ballpark, plus Senior Sunday where seniors (55 & older) can get $5 tickets for all Sunday home games. There will also be face painting from Wild Style and balloon animals from Unique Twist for free on the concourse throughout the game as well.
The homestand concludes Monday, August 12 with a 12:05 p.m. start for Half-Price Ticket Monday. All tickets are half price with $7.50, $6.50, $5.50, and $4.50 options. The School Supply Drive will also be going on.
