Johnstown Chiefs News Release

Trenton, NJ - The Johnstown Chiefs moved ahead of the Dayton Bombers for fourth place in the North Division with a 4-1 win Sunday against the Trenton Devils.

Neither team was able to tally in the first period, although, the Devils controlled the play for much of the period. In his first start since February 24, Andrew Penner had to be sharp early as he was tested 15 times in the first 20 minutes.

The Chiefs offense finally got kick-started in the second period with a three goal effort. Randy Rowe scored an ugly goal at 13:57 of the second. Rowe got credit for the unassisted marker when as he tried to carry it to the front of the net, the puck wandered off of his stick and right through Jason Smith's five hole.

Rowe then set up Alex Imbeault on the power play at 18:08 of the second. Imbeault, the reigning ECHL Player of the Week, scored his 17th of the year after Rowe fed him with a drop pass on the right wing. Ryan Garlock added the secondary assist to extend his point streak to 16 games. Vincent Zaore capped of the second-period scoring with his fifth of the year 50 seconds after Imbeault's goal. Kenny Roche and Rob Drummond worked the puck from the left wing to set up Zaore.

In the third period, Garlock added an insurance marker for the Chiefs with a power play goal 3:43 into the final frame. Imbeault and Roche worked it around behind the net before setting up Garlock in the low left wing.

Andrew Penner lost his bid for a shutout with just five seconds left in regulation when Thomas Harrison fired a slap shot in from the right point.

Penner picked up his fifth victory of the season by making 36 saves, and was helped by a Chiefs power play that went two-for-four. The Chiefs scored two power play goals for the third straight game, the first time they have done that this season.
