
Chiefs-Cougars Suspended by Rain Monday

PEORIA, IL- The Peoria Chiefs were suspended in the bottom of the first inning in game one of their three-game series against the Kane County Cougars on Monday night. At the resumption of play on Tuesday, the Chiefs will have CJ McElroy Jr. on third base with Carson Kelly coming to the plate and two outs in the bottom of the first of a 1-1 game.
The Cougars scored a run in the first inning against Kyle Helisek, making his first start of the season with the Chiefs. Shawon Dunston Jr. led off with a double to right and scored on Chesny Young's single up the middle. Helisek allowed a two-out walk but no more runs in the inning.
The Chiefs tied the game in the bottom of the first against Duane Underwood before the game was stopped due to lightning. Vaughn Bryan doubled to left to begin the frame and McElroy beat out a bunt single to move Bryan to third. Juan Herrera brought home Bryan with a ground out to second as McElroy took third. After Justin Ringo struck out, the game went into a delay for rain and lightning ultimately being suspended until Tuesday.
