Rain Suspends Series Opener

(Davenport-IA) Zachary Houchins drives in a pair of runs, helping the Bees tie the game in the fifth tie the game before rains forced the game to be suspended.

After two straight games without a run, the Bees tool the lead in the top of the first inning. Kody Eaves led of with a single and then came around to score on a Bo Way double down the right field line, giving the Bees the 1-0 lead.

Garrett Nuss would allow a one out single in Ryan Bottger in the bottom of the first inning. After striking out MLB rehabbing, George Springer, Nuss allowed a single to AJ Reed, and then a homerun to JD Davis, putting the River Bandits on top 3-1.

Zach Houchins cut into the deficit in the third inning with a single to left scoring Kody Eaves from second, pulling the Bees to within a run at 3-2.

Houchins wasn't done, popping up to shallow left-center field, but center fielder, James Ramsay, lost it in the lights and it landed just out of the reach of shortstop Thomas Lindauer, scoring Kody Eaves from third, tying the game at three.

After Garrett Nuss struck out AJ Reed with the bases loaded to end the fifth inning, the rain started to fall and the tarp came on.

The game will be resumed, Tuesday, at 5:30 PM with the regularly scheduled nine inning contest following.
