
Chiefs beat Braves in see-saw affair

Richmond, VA- The Syracuse SkyChiefs beat the Richmond Braves 10-6 Sunday afternoon at The Diamond. Chad Mottola's two-run single in the sixth inning put the SkyChiefs ahead for good.
The Chiefs scored runs in the first, second, third and fifth innings, but couldn't pull away from the Braves who answered in the bottom half of each inning. Gabe Gross doubled in Anton French in the sixth before Mottola added a two-run single to put the SkyChiefs up 7-4. The Braves battled back again as Tony Pena drove in James Jurries in the bottom half of the sixth to pull within two. Scott Pratt added another run in the seventh for Richmond after he tripled to right field, driving in Esix Snead. Gabe Gross put the game away with a two run single in the ninth inning stretching the SkyChiefs lead to 10-6.
Esix Snead had two hits and three runs to go along with his 24th stolen base of the season, tying him with Joey Gathright for the league lead. Scott Pratt, Carlos Mendez and Tony Pena each had two RBI for the Braves. Gabe Gross went 3-for-5 with four RBI for the SkyChiefs. Brandon League went five innings to pick up the win for Syracuse. Jeremy Ward took the loss for Richmond.
