Spokane Chiefs News Release
For the second year in a row, the Spokane Chiefs and Comcast Cable have announced a six game television package that will air on Comcast Cable 12. The first broadcast will air on Saturday, October 28th when the Chiefs host the Vancouver Giants.
"We had a great response to the Chiefs first year on television and we are looking forward to building on that success, said Chiefs President Bobby Brett. "Comcast is a great partner and we are pleased to be able to extend our broadcast relationship with them.
Dennis Patchin, KXLY TV's Sports Director, will call the play-by-play for the second year and be joined in the booth by former Chief Captain and Assistant Coach Kevin Sawyer, who will provide the color commentary. Spokane Chiefs Director of Public Relations Jay Stewart will also handle some on-air duties.
In addition to the live broadcasts, each televised home game will be available on Comcast ON DEMAND. Comcast will also produce "Chiefs Insider," a magazine style show that will be available on Comcast ON DEMAND. The games and the Chiefs Insider program will be available ON DEMAND within a few hours after the original broadcasts. They will remain ON DEMAND for the duration of the Chiefs' season.
"We're excited to bring the Spokane Chiefs television package to our customers again this year," said Ken Watts, General Manager for Comcast in Spokane. "Judging by the feedback we received during last year's season, our sports-oriented customers are extremely enthusiastic about these kinds of local programming opportunities.
"Plus, we were pleased to see how popular the games were ON DEMAND, even for those fans who attended the games at the arena," Watts said.
ON DEMAND offers Comcast Digital Cable customers more control than ever before, with the ability to choose from nearly 7,500 hours of programming including movies, music, sports, news, instructional and entertainment programming and more, all with the functionality of a VCR. Most of the content available ON DEMAND, including the Spokane Chiefs programming, is free to Digital Cable customers. ON DEMAND is not available on satellite.
