Peoria Chiefs News Release

PEORIA, IL- The Peoria Chiefs in conjunction with the Chicago Cubs have announced that catcher Jonathan Douillard has been added from Boise and will be in Peoria in time for Saturday's 6:30 game against the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers. To make room on the Chiefs roster, starting pitcher Rich Hill was reassigned to AAA Iowa after beating Wisconsin 5-2 Friday night.

Douillard played in five games this season for Boise batting .111 (1-for-9) with a run scored and a RBI. He was drafted out of Vanderbilt in the 28th round in 2004 and played in Mesa last season batting .275 in 11 games with 11 RBI and two doubles. The 23 year old batted .272 with 10 doubles and 14 RBI with the Vanderbilt Commodores in 2004 earning all-SEC Tournament selection and leading his squad to their first NCAA Super Regional.

The Kennesaw, GA native played high school ball at Harrison High School with current Chiefs second baseman Eric Patterson. Douillard was a Georgia Dugout Club All-Star in 2000 and was on the Johnny Bench Award Watch List for National Collegiate Catcher of the Year in 2004.

Hill enjoyed a great one-day Chiefs career on Friday as he defeated the Timber Rattlers 5-2. Pitching in Peoria to stay on rotation because of the cancellation of Iowa's series in New Orleans, Hill set a Chiefs season high by striking out 12 over eight innings. He allowed just one earned run on five hits and did not issue a walk.
