HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS
The Wolves are in the midst of a four-game road trip, which concludes Wednesday, Dec. 15, in Milwaukee. The road swing will be followed by a four-game homestand, starting Dec. 17 against Texas, that keeps the team off the road until Dec. 28. WOLVES HEADLINERS
- JORDAN CARON: Extended his goal-scoring streak to four games with an even-strength tally at Iowa Tuesday night ... Three of his 4 goals during the streak have occurred in the first period ... Over his last four games, CARON has amassed 4 goals and 5 points, matching his point total from his first 16 games (which included two goals).
- ANDRE BENOIT: Registered his fourth multiple-point game of the season with an empty-net goal and assist in a 5-3 win at Iowa ... During his current four-game point streak, BENOIT has compiled 2 goals and 6 assists for 8 points ... He leads the Wolves in scoring with 19 points and ranks third in AHL defenseman scoring.
- PETER HARROLD: Provided 3 assists in Chicago's road win at Iowa, giving him 12 helpers on the season to rank second on the team ... HARROLD stands fifth overall in Wolves scoring (13 points), having recorded points in 11 games this season ... an alternate captain, HARROLD has teamed with ANDRE BENOIT to give the Wolves a formidable offensive attack from the blueline.
WOLF TRACKS
- The Wolves' 5-3 win at Iowa Tuesday night snapped a four-game road winless streak, marking the team's first road triumph since a 5-3 win over Manitoba on Nov. 12.
- JOHN ANDERSON's club is averaging 3.24 goals per game, which ranks fourth-best among the 30 AHL teams. The Wolves have scored five goals or more in five games this season and matched a league-high by scoring nine goals against Charlotte on Oct. 17.
- The Wolves' platoon system in goal has produced nearly identical results regardless of who's in net. JORDAN BINNINGTON sports 6 wins, a 2.51 goals-against average and .908 save percentage in 11 starts while PHEONIX COPLEY owns 5 wins, a 2.62 goals-against average and .908 save percentage in 10 appearances.
- Cleveland's Quicken Loans Arena has been anything but friendly to the Wolves in recent years. Chicago is winless in its last five games (0-3-2-0) in the building - the last win occurring on Dec. 27, 2013.
LONG-AWAITED DEBUT
With a quarter of the season completed, Chicago takes on Lake Erie in a two-game series this weekend in Cleveland. The Monsters are the only Central Division team the Wolves have yet to face this season. Chicago, which occupies fourth place in the eight-team divisional race, owns a 9-4-1-2 record against Central rivals.
WOLVES REWIND (2-1-0-1)
Tuesday, Dec. 8 Chicago 5, (at) Iowa 3
- Chicago broke a 3-3 tie late in the third period and added an empty-net goal to post the win over Iowa at Wells Fargo Arena.
- JEREMY WELSH scored the game-winner with 4:43 left in regulation. JORDAN CARON, YANNICK VEILLEUX, PAT CANNONE and ANDRE BENOIT also lit the lamp.
- PHEONIX COPLEY turned in 32 saves for the win
Saturday, Dec. 5 Milwaukee 3, (at) Chicago 2 (SO)
- Chicago rallied from two goals down, but suffered a shootout loss to Milwaukee at the Allstate Arena
- JEREMY WELSH and JORDAN CARON scored third-period goals to force overtime. Chicago finished with a 7-4 edge in shots in the extra period
- JORDAN BINNINGTON made 23 saves on 25 shots faced
Friday, Dec. 4 (at) Grand Rapids 3, Chicago 1
- Grand Rapids scored three goals in the second period to erase an early Wolves lead and earn the victory at Van Andel Arena
- JORDAN CARON extended his point streak to three games with a first-period goal and defenseman ANDRE BENOIT handed out his 13th assist
- PHEONIX COPLEY stopped 30 shots in the loss
Wednesday, Dec. 2 (at) Chicago 8, Manitoba 2
- Chicago halted its three-game losing streak with an 8-2 triumph of Manitoba in a Central Division battle at the Allstate Arena.
- SPENCER ASUCHAK recorded his first hat trick in a Wolves uniform and ANDRE BENOIT picked up three points (including a short-handed goal) as seven Chicago players recorded multiple-point efforts.
- PHEONIX COPLEY made 35 saves to earn No. 3 Star honors.
