Chicago Sky News Release
CHICAGO - The Chicago Sky waived Brittany Boyd-Jones, Alexis Prince, Lexie Brown, Kobi Thornton and Natasha Mack, the team announced today.
Each of these moves comes ahead of the league-mandated deadline to cut the team roster down to a maximum of 12 players in advance of the 2021 season-opening weekend for the WNBA, which begins Friday, May 14 with a slate of four games across the league.
The Chicago Sky begins its regular season on Saturday, May 15 against the Washington Mystics at 12:00p CT from the nation's capital.
Boyd-Jones departs the Sky after signing a training camp contract on February 8, 2021. She played five seasons with the New York Liberty prior to coming to Chicago.
Prince, who signed with the Sky for the remainder of the 2020 season in Bradenton, Fla. and played in three games (two in the regular season and one postseason) leaves Chicago after signing a training camp contract on April 13.
Brown and Thornton each signed training camp contracts in April of 2021. Thornton, a former Clemson Tiger and rookie in the WNBA, was named as an All-ACC Second Team Member following her 2018-19 campaign with the program. Brown spent the first three seasons of her career in the league with the Minnesota Lynx, appearing in 72 games with 13 starts.
Mack was selected by the Sky with the 16th overall pick (2nd round) of the 2021 WNBA Draft. She earned the 2021 WBCA Defensive Player of the Year following her final season in Stillwater, Okla.
