CHICAGO, April 16, 2008 - The Chicago Sky has signed Nina Stone and Amanda Jackson to training camp contracts, Head Coach and General Manager Steven Key announced today. Per team policy, terms of the contracts have not been released.
Stone, a 5'7" guard, is a 2005 graduate of Oklahoma State University, where she was named Big 12 Newcomer of the Year after transferring from Wabash Valley Community College in Mt. Carmel, IL. She was named a Kodak All-American first team selection after leading the Warriors to a 34-3 record her sophomore year. The Indianapolis native has played professional basketball for Team Guaynabo in Puerto Rico for two years, and just completed her first season as assistant women's basketball coach at Oral Roberts University.
Jackson is a 5'9" guard from Miami University in Ohio, where she averaged 21.6 points per game. She set 12 Miami records this past season and was a 2008 State Farm All-America Honorable Mention selection. The two-time First-Team All-MAC honoree became Miami's single-game, single-season and career scoring leader this season and was the second player in Mid-American Conference history to surpass 1,900 points, 500 rebounds, 300 assists and 300 steals for her career.
Sky training camp begins on April 23 at ATTACK Athletics, located at 2641 W. Harrison Street. Media day is scheduled for Monday, May 19, when all returning Sky veterans are expected to be back in Chicago from their respective international teams.
The Sky is one of seven independently-owned teams in the WNBA, the world's longest-running women's professional sports league.
