Chicago Sky Play Exhibition Game in Milwaukee on May 4
April 24, 2007 - Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA)
Chicago Sky News Release
CHICAGO - The Chicago Sky WNBA team will travel to Milwaukee on Friday, May 4 to play a pre-season exhibition game against the Washington Mystics. It will be the first-ever WNBA game played in Milwaukee.
The game marks a return home for WNBA first-round draft pick (third overall) Armintie Price and Sky training camp invitee Christina Quaye. Price was born in Milwaukee before moving to Mississippi, and much of her family still resides in Milwaukee. The Sky selected the University of Mississipi stand-out with the third pick in the WNBA draft earlier this month. The 5'9" guard averaged a team-leading and career-best 19.1 points per game during her senior season, led the NCAA and SEC with 3.7 steals per game and also averaged 8.8 rebounds per game. An inspiration on and off the court, Price faced the most difficult obstacle of her young career the summer before her senior year: dealing with the death of her mother from ovarian cancer. As a standout player at Marquette, Quaye helped her team reach the second round of the 2007 NCAA Women's Tournament.
The exhibition game is being organized by Milwaukee-based Images of Us (IOU) Sports, a non-profit organization that provides sports education, fitness opportunities, career information and charitable assistance to girls and women who participate in all levels of sports. The Milwaukee Youth Sports Authority, which awards grants to organizations that provide sports programs for under-served youth in Milwaukee County, is a presenting sponsor of the event. Tickets, starting at $10, are available at www.ticketmaster.com.
