Race for the Cure
On Saturday, May 12, Maloof Sports & Entertainment Team Members as well as one of the original Monarchs, Ruthie Bolton will participate in the 11th Annual Komen Sacramento Race for the Cure. This will be the sixth year the Maloof Sports & Entertainment family has participated in the event as part of their commitment to Breast Health Awareness. As in past years, thousands of race participants are expected to stop by the Monarchs Experience to take shots on the sport court, watch the Hip Hop Crew and have their faces painted.
2007 Special Events at Monarchs Games During the 2007 season, the Monarchs will be hosting special events during designated home games throughout the season. Designated games will have unique events for fans to participate in. The special events at Monarchs games are scheduled for:
- June 2 vs. Los Angeles: Opening Night
- June 16 vs. Houston: Dads and Daughters Night
- June 23 vs. Detroit: Women and Inspiration Night featuring "Good Morning America" co-host Robin Roberts
- July 1 vs. Minnesota: Breast Health Awareness Night
- July 26 vs. Indiana: Camp Day
- August 3 vs. Seattle: Moms and Kids Night
- August 17 vs. Phoenix: MONTYS Fan Appreciation Night
Court of Dreams
The Sacramento area Rotary Clubs, Kiwanis Clubs and YMCA teamed up to win an official WNBA basketball court for the Sacramento community by taking first place in the nationwide 2006 WNBA Court of Dreams ticket sales contest. Construction at the Greater Sacramento YMCA tipped off in August and the new facility will be officially unveiled on Thursday, April 26 at 3:30 pm. Kara Lawson, Yolanda Griffith, Chelsea Newton, Brittany Wilkins and new head coach, Jenny Boucek are all scheduled to be in attendance as they interact with the children and participate in a ribbon cutting ceremony.
