CHICAGO, Ill. - The Chicago Red Stars clinched a spot in the National Women's Soccer League playoffs with a 2-0 win over Angel City FC. The Red Stars will take on San Diego Wave FC October 16 in San Diego.

12' An interception in Angel City's territory gives Vanessa DiBernardo an opportunity for a shot on goal, but her attempt goes just wide of the goal
28' Angel City is able to get the ball past the Red Stars defense, but Alyssa Naeher makes a big save to keep things level
33' Malloy Pugh skirts Angel City's defense to take a shot on goal, but Angel City's keeper is able to step in front of the ball and save the shot
36' Arin Wright makes a run across the Chicago box to put her foot in the way of a clear shot for Angel City
45+2' Sarah Luebbert dribbles into Angel City's box with ease, completing a pass to Mal Pugh who is able to bury it in the back of the net and give the Red Stars the lead
57' Angel City is awarded a penalty kick, but the attempt hits the far-right post and goes out for a goal kick
76' Yuki Nagasato breaks away from Angel City to take a shot and it connects with the back of the net extending the lead to 2-0

With the win tonight, Chicago clinched a spot in the NWSL playoffs for the seventh straight year
The Red Stars were able to out shoot Angel City (14 to 7) and took more shots inside the box than the visitors (9 to 4)
Morgan Gautrat played a pivotal role in the Red Stars midfield, completing 14 passes in the final third of the field and contributing on defense with 16 recovered balls
