CHICAGO FIRE AT CHIVAS USA ON THURSDAY

The Fire (6-4-1, 19 pts.) will play their second road game in four days when they face Chivas USA (4-6-2, 14 pts.) at The Home Depot Center on Thursday, June 19. Kickoff for the match is set for 9:30 p.m. CT. The game is the first of two regular season meetings between the teams. The Fire are coming off a 1-0 road loss to FC Dallas on Sunday, while Chivas USA dropped their last game 1-0 to Real Salt Lake at home. This Thursday's game will be televised by ESPN2 and ESPN Deportes, and can be heard on Chicagoland radio stations WRTO 1200-AM (Spanish) and WNVR 1030-AM (Polish, online only).

Chivas leads the all-time series 3-2-1, which includes a 1-1-1 mark for the Fire in games played in Los Angeles. Last year the Fire won 1-0 over Chivas USA at TOYOTA PARK on 6/09/07, then the teams played to a 1-1 tie at The Home Depot Center on 9/29/07. Chicago's last win at Chivas USA came on 7/02/05 (1-0).

SEGARES GETS TIME IN 2-2 DRAW WITH GRENADA

Fire defender Gonzalo Segares started and played 66 minutes for Costa Rica in a 2-2 away draw against Grenada in their CONCACAF second round qualifying first leg on Saturday. Segares joined the Costa Rican National Team camp last week and will miss Thursday's game at Chivas USA as the 25-year-old San Jose, Costa Rica native helps the "Ticos" prepare for the second leg against Grenada on Saturday, June 21 in Costa Rica.

CHICAGO FIRE TO HOST OPEN CUP THIRD ROUND ON JULY 1

U.S. Soccer has announced the Chicago Fire have been awarded hosting rights for the third round of the 2008 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, set for Tuesday, July 1. The game will be played at TOYOTA PARK in Bridgeview, Ill. Chicago's opponent for the match will be determined on June 24, when the Cleveland City Stars (USL2) plays at the Minnesota Thunder (USL1). Ticket information will be announced in the near future. Should the Fire win on July 1, their next game would be July 8, at a site to be determined. The tournament's semifinals are scheduled for Aug. 12 with the final set for Aug. 26.

VERANO MLS AT TOYOTA PARK

In its second edition, the Chicago Fire will host Verano MLS presented by Tang, a free summer soccer program, at TOYOTA PARK. Verano MLS presented by Tang provides youth ages 8-12 a free opportunity to play pick-up-style soccer twice a week in a safe and controlled environment. Working closely with select MLS teams, the four to six week summer program will provide a weekly soccer playing destination, while creating a connection between youth soccer players and their favorite MLS stars.
