
Chicago Fire Sign Joevin Jones

CHICAGO (December 3, 2014) - The Chicago Fire Soccer Club announced Wednesday that the club has signed Joevin Jones. The Trinidadian defender joins the Men in Red from W Connection after his most recent loan spell at Finnish Veikkausliiga club HJK Helsinki. Jones will be added to the Fire's roster for 2015 upon receipt of his International Transfer Certificate and P1 Visa. Per MLS and team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
"We're pleased that Joevin will be joining the Fire," said Fire head coach Frank Yallop. "He's a versatile player and is a great addition as we build a squad that will compete in 2015."
Jones joins the Fire after his recent loan spell with Finnish side HJK Helsinki, where he made six Veikkausliiga appearances.
A Trinidad and Tobago international, Jones made his senior debut for the Soca Warriors on Sept. 7, 2010 against Panama. The Carenage, Trinidad native has earned 37 caps and took part in the 2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup and the 2010, 2012 and 2014 Caribbean Cups.
Prior to his time in Finland, Jones spent time with W Connection FC of the TT Pro League. After two seasons in the club's youth programs, Jones made his senior debut in 2009, making two appearances helping the club to a runner-up finish for the 2009 FA Trophy.
In 2011, Jones scored two goals in ten appearances, leading W Connection to the club's fourth Pro League title. The following year, Jones and the Savonetta Boys finished second in the 2012 CFU Club Championship, qualifying for the 2012-13 CONCACAF Champions League, where he made three appearances.
Jones led W Connection to their fifth Pro League title in 2013 and finished second in the league with 14 goals.
