Chicago Fire Elect to Pass in 2016 MLS Waiver Draft
December 15, 2016 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Chicago Fire FC News Release
The 2016 MLS Waiver Draft has passed without a pick being made from the 43 players available.
The Waiver Draft consisted of players who had been waived by their clubs but didn't meet the minimum years of service requirement for the Re-Entry Draft or Free Agency.
Under-contract players who were selected in the Waiver Draft would've been automatically added to the drafting club's roster. Clubs that claimed out-of-contract players would've had to issue a genuine offer to the selected player.
The players not selected are now free to sign with the team of their choice.
The Re-Entry Draft is up next, beginning Friday, Dec. 16 at 2 pm CT.
