Sounders FC Announces MLS Cup Tour Events For Thursday
December 15, 2016 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Seattle Sounders FC News Release
SEATTLE, WASH. - Sounders FC today announced several stops on a tour of Seattle for the Philip F. Anschutz Trophy, which the team claimed on Saturday after beating Toronto FC in a penalty-kick shootout at BMO Field to capture the 2016 MLS Cup.
The Cup Tour allows fans an opportunity to see the trophy in person at various Seattle landmarks and institutions throughout Thursday, December 15 and Friday, December 16, with the Friday schedule to be released later this afternoon.
The tour kicked off yesterday, as Head Coach Brian Schmetzer, along with team alums and ambassadors Kasey Keller and Roger Levesque, traveled to Olympia to meet with Governor Jay Inslee and present the Cup at the Capitol as a Sounders FC flag was raised in front of the Legislative building.
Earlier this morning, the Cup traveled with commuters making their way to Seattle from Bainbridge Island aboard the ferry Puyallup and mingled with the boat's riders and staff.

In addition to its two Thursday stops, the Cup is scheduled to appear at the Seattle Seahawks' Thursday Night Football clash against the Los Angeles Rams, as several of the Rave Green's players attend to cheer on their Seattle brothers and make a special on-field appearance in recognition of their MLS Cup Championship victory.
