CHICAGO, IL (Wednesday, March 26, 2003) - The FireWorks for Kids Foundation (FWFK) - Chicago Fire's charitable arm- announced today that all 600 available seats to the 2003 Season Kickoff Luncheon, presented by Athletico, have been sold. Only eight days remain until the annual event, which is scheduled to take place next Thursday, April 3 at the Hyatt Regency Chicago, located at 151 East Wacker Drive, beginning at 11:00 a.m. CT.
FWFK reports that this year's Luncheon will mark the first-ever sell out in the five-year history of the event. With this year's highly anticipated event breaking attendance records from years past, the Luncheon has now been established as one of the hottest tickets on the Chicago sports calendar.
"Our fans, sponsors and extended Fire family look forward to this event every year. This year there is a great sense of excitement about a new beginning and we are all looking forward to this traditional kickoff of the Fire's season," said FWFK Founding President and Fire General Manager Peter Wilt. "It is gratifying to know that so many people are behind the team and supporting the Fire's charitable arm."
This year will mark the fifth edition of the Kickoff Luncheon, which traditionally marks the beginning of the season for both the club and the Foundation. This year the Foundation will welcome two of soccer's biggest names to the event, as veteran broadcaster Jack Edwards will take part as the event's Master of Ceremonies and Major League Soccer Commissioner Don Garber will serve as the guest speaker. The entire Fire player roster and coaching staff will also be on hand to discuss the upcoming 2003 season and the new era of the Chicago Fire, making this a spectacular event for Fire supporters and all fans of the sport.
"The excitement, enthusiasm, and interest that Chicago Fire fans and sponsors have generated towards this year's event has been overwhelming and indicative of the passion for Chicago Fire soccer," said FWFK Chief Executive Officer Donald Ortale. "We are grateful for the ongoing support Fire fans provide to the Fire and the FireWorks For Kids Foundation."
The FWFK Foundation is a non-profit organization, which has been established to help the Chicago Fire continue its service and commitment to the community through grants to charitable groups catering to the development of economically disadvantaged children throughout the Chicagoland area.
