LOWELL, MA.-With Jocelyn Forest and Jessica Sallinger pitching lights out, runs would come at a premium.
In the seventh inning with the score knotted at 1-1, Chicago's Jamie Clark led off the inning with a double and Laura Harms made the most of it. Harms hit a sacrifice fly to score Clark, giving the Bandits a 2-1 lead. The score held up and the Chicago Bandits defeated the New England Riptide 2-1 Friday night at Martin Softball Field in the first game of a four game National Pro Fastpitch series.
Stacy May remained hot for the Bandits and gave Chicago a 1-0 lead with a home run in the third inning.
Sallinger (9-5) and Forest (6-7) both pitched complete games for their respective teams and each allowed six hits and one walk.
