Chiang Homer Leads 'Riders to Victory

FRISCO, TEXAS (June 17, 2013) - The Frisco RoughRiders won game two of their series against the Midland RockHounds 2-1 Monday night at Dr Pepper Ballpark. With the victory, the 'Riders finished in second place of the Texas League South Division for the first half.

After four scoreless innings, D'Arby Myers advanced to first on a fielding error to lead off the fifth. A sacrifice bunt by Darwin Perez advanced Myers to second, and Anthony Aliotti singled to advance the runner to third. Later in the frame, Myers stole home on a strikeout by Jake Goebbert, giving Midland (33-37) a 1-0 lead.

Ryan Strausborger led off the fifth with a single to right, and Chih-Hsien Chiang slammed a home run over the right fence, giving the 'Riders (39-31) a 2-1 lead, which became the final score.

Rangers' first baseman Mitch Moreland made his first rehab appearance of the season and went 0-for-3 with two groundouts and a strikeout.

Nick McBride (1-2) struck out five in five innings pitched, surrendering one run on six hits to earn the victory. Carlos Hernandez (3-6) gave up two runs on five runs in six innings and struck out seven to suffer the loss. Wilmer Font struck out three in 1.1 innings to earn his eighth save.

The 'Riders continue their series with the Midland RockHounds Tuesday at 7:05 p.m. at Dr Pepper Ballpark. Carlos Pimentel (7-3, 3.60 ERA) makes the start for the 'Riders, and will face Murphy Smith (5-7, 2.70 ERA) for the RockHounds.
