Charlotte Checkers News Release

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Jeff Daniels, general manager and head coach of the AHL's Charlotte Checkers, today announced that the team has signed defenseman Mike Little to a professional tryout contract.

Little, 27, played for the Checkers on Tuesday under a previous PTO before rejoining his ECHL team, the Florida Everblades, following his release on Wednesday. After going scoreless in his Checkers debut and picking up an assist in the Everblades' 5-4 home victory the next day, Little is expected to be in Charlotte's lineup as the team hosts the Oklahoma City Barons for the second of a two-game set on Thursday.

A native of Enfield, CT, Little (5-foot-9, 185 pounds) is tied for second on the Everblades in scoring with 18 points (2g, 16a) in 20 games to go along with a plus-18 rating. The product of American International College is tied for fourth among ECHL defensemen in points and is tied for sixth among all players in plus-minus. He is scoreless in four career AHL games with Norfolk and Charlotte.

Along with A.J. Jenks and Andrew Rowe, the signing of Little and his Everblades teammate, forward Gabriel Desjardins, on Tuesday gives the Checkers four professional tryouts on their active roster.

Following Thursday's game, the Checkers four-game home stand concludes with games against San Antonio on Friday (7 p.m.) and Sunday (1 p.m.).
