
Checkers pick up four from Hartford

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Charlotte Checkers announced today that the Hartford Wolf Pack, of the American Hockey League, has reassigned forwards Rick Kozak and Bruce Graham to Charlotte along with goalie Chris Holt and defenseman Ryan Constant. Kozak, Graham and Holt all spent time in Charlotte last season.
Kozak, 21, skated in 28 games with the Checkers last season scoring seven goals and nine assists while picking up 68 penalty minutes. He also saw action in three games with the Wolf Pack registering four penalty minutes. Kozak was a third-round selection of Philadelphia Flyers in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft (95th pick overall).
Graham, 20, skated in 23 games with the Checkers last season notching six goals and 12 assists with 40 penalty minutes. He appeared in 25 games with the Wolf Pack last season scoring seven points (2g, 5a) with 15 penalty minutes. Graham was a second-round selection of the New York Rangers in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft (51st pick overall).
Holt, 21, appeared in goal in 23 games with the Checkers last season with a record of 7-11-1 and a .887 save percentage. He also appeared in nine games with the Wolf Pack (3-2-1, .879 save percentage) and one game with the New York Rangers (10 minutes, two saves). Holt was a sixth-round selection of the New York Rangers in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft (180th overall).
Constant, 21, skated in 57 games last season with the OCN (Opaskwayak Cree Nation) Blizzard of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League. He registered 13 goals, 45 assists with 253 penalty minutes.
The Checkers open training camp Saturday at 10:00 am at Extreme Ice Center in Indian Trail, N.C. Practices at Extreme Ice Center are open to the public.
