Bakersfield Condors News Release

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Bakersfield Condors Professional Hockey Club announced Thursday their 26-player training camp roster for the 2006-07 season. Fans will have their first chance to meet and greet the team Sunday at the annual Open House and Family Day.

Among the 26 players, 13 are returnees from last season's squad (Scott Balan, Alexandre Bolduc, Scott Borders, Mike Hofstrand, Andrew Ianiero, Joel Irving, Reagan Leslie, Josh Liebenow, Tyler Scott, Kevin St. Jacques, Brian Swiniarski, Kevin Truelson and Sean Venedam). David Kudelka, who played with Bakersfield in 2004-05, is also making his return to Condorstown.

The 12 new players attending training camp are Jamie Hodson, Andrew Oke, Nathan Oke, Benoit Quessandier, Steve Rodberg, Alex Rogosheske, Micah Sanford, Neil Stevenson-Moore, Danny Stewart, Danny Taylor, Martin Thimm and David Turcotte.

Training camp officially starts Friday morning when the Condors take the ice at the Bakersfield Ice Sports Center, located at 1325 Q St. (A full training camp schedule is listed below).

"It's always exciting when you start training camp and take your first look at the team," Head Coach Marty Raymond said. "This year's squad has a nice mix of veterans and rookies which should provide a good balance throughout the season. I'm expecting the best from our club and we're going to do everything in our power to bring a Kelly Cup Championship to Bakersfield."

This year's training camp squad starts with three veterans (players with 260-or-more professional games played): Irving, St. Jacques and Venedam. Nine rookies will round out the training camp roster (25-or-fewer professional games): Nathan Oke, Quessandier, Sanford, Stevenson-Moore, Stewart, Swiniarski, Taylor, Thimm and Turcotte.

Two players have also been assigned to Bakersfield from the American Hockey League and National Hockey League. Bolduc, who played with the Condors last season, was assigned by the AHL's Manitoba Moose and goaltender Taylor was assigned by the NHL's Los Angeles Kings.

This Sunday's Open House and Family Day is from Noon to 3 p.m. at the Bakersfield Ice Sports Center. Admission is free with a donation of two-or-more canned food items, benefiting the Bakersfield Homeless Center.

The team will hold a full work-out from Noon to 1:15 p.m. followed by formal on-ice player introductions from 1:15 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Fans are invited to stay for a free public skating session from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. where they can take the ice with the Condors players. Fans are encouraged to bring their own skates or rent them for a $3 fee (based on availability).
