Charlotte FC News Release
CHARLOTTE, NC - Charlotte FC today announced Megan Bornkamp and Tori Hansen as the Club's first two Student-Athlete Ambassadors.
Ambassadors will authentically promote the brand of Charlotte FC through marketing and promotional campaigns through their social platforms and additionally by participating in community initiatives, camps and clinics, ticket sales, crowning moments for the Club, and attending matches in-person to enjoy the fan experience.
Each student-athlete's experience in the program will be tailored to their interests and off-the-field goals.
Bornkamp, a sophomore at Clemson and youth USWNT international, has played 39 games across two seasons for the Tigers. The Mooresville, NC native has scored 18 goals and contributed 11 assists and has earned All-American honors.
Hansen, a Junior at UNC-Chapel Hill, has appeared in 38 matches for the Tar Heels as a defender. A native of Raleigh, NC, Hansen also represented the USWNT across multiple youth levels.
"We're very excited to welcome both Megan and Tori to Charlotte FC as our first two Student-Athlete Ambassadors. They both stood out as high caliber athletes and high character individuals who want to part of the Club as we continue to be a unifying force across the Carolinas," said Tepper Sports and Entertainment CEO, Nick Kelly. "It was important for us to begin with two soccer players from major programs in this region with both athletes representing a premier collegiate conference in women's soccer. Moving forward for our ambassador program we will prioritize student-athletes from a variety of sports at colleges and universities here in Charlotte and throughout North and South Carolina."
The program, which is open to student-athletes who are currently enrolled in a North Carolina or South Carolina accredited college or university and a member of their college or university varsity sports team, will continue to select applications throughout the inaugural season.
Men's soccer players are ineligible to participate due to conflict of interest.
