Washington Wild Things News Release
Washington, PA - The Washington Wild Things and the Chillicothe Paints faced off Friday night in an exhibition game at Falconi Field. The game marks the first of a two game pre-season series between the two teams.
Proceeds from both games will go to charity. "These games are a great chance for the Wild Things to do good for the community," said John Swiatek, Managing Partner for The Wild Things. "The Wild Things are involved in a number of charitable ventures. We have hosted several charity events at the ballpark and we donate a substantial amount of money to the Ballpark Scholarship, Inc. scholarship fund. We intend to make a presentation to the first round of scholarship recipients during the home opener."
The Wild Things donated the proceeds (just under $5,000) from the 2002 exhibition games to ARC of Washington County, The Washington Hospital Foundation, and The Washington Community Foundation.
"The exhibition games serve so many purposes. It gives the coaches a chance to see the players in a real-game situation. It gives the employees a chance to do a 'dress rehearsal,' and it gives The Wild Things a chance to be a good community neighbor by offering financial assistance to area non-profits," said Ross Vecchio, General Manager of the Wild Things.
A second exhibition game is scheduled for Saturday. All tickets for the game are $5.00. First pitch is 7:05. The Wild Things open at home on May 28th. Tickets are still available.
