Ottawa Lynx News Release
OTTAWA - The Lynx have spent the last two weekends looking back at the past while helping the National Capital Amateur Athletics Association work toward the future.
The Lynx have held silent auctions in conjunction with last weekend's 15th Anniversary Celebration and this afternoon's Gowlings Tribute to the Expos. These two auctions, featuring jerseys and memorabilia from former Lynx and Expos players, combined to raise $5,240 for the NCAAA.
"The NCAAA has been such a great partner in putting on these special days at the ballpark," said Lynx General Manager Kyle Bostwick. "These auctions are our way of saying âThank you' and helping out a great local organization in the process."
These two days were highlighted by in-stadium appearances by former Lynx F.P. Santangelo and Derek Aucoin on July 14th, as well as Sunday's appearances by former Montreal Expos Warren Cromartie, Claude Raymond, Rodney Scott, and Dennis "Oil Can" Boyd.
"A big part of these days were the appearances by these amazing ballplayers, and it is great to see a local business like Gowling, Lafleur, and Henderson step up to the plate and make this possible", added Bostwick.
This is the first season the Lynx are the Triple-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies. The Lynx Box Office is Open Monday to Friday from 10 am to 6 pm and Saturdays 10 am to 4 pm. Ticket information can be found at www.ottawalynx.com or by calling 613 747-LYNX (5969).
