Ottawa Champions News Release
OTTAWA - The Ottawa Champions couldn't take advantage of three shutout innings from their bullpen and fell to the Sussex County Miners 5-3.
Two of Ottawa's runs came via the long ball, with 1B Vinny Guglietti clubbing his second home run of the season in the sixth inning. CF Chase Harris also came around to score on the homer.
DH Sebastien Boucher provided the other Champions run in the seventh frame. OF Tillman Pugh earned his first career RBI in the Cam-Am League on the play.
LHP Evan Rutckyj got the start for the Champions, going 4.1 innings and giving up five runs. However, the Miners couldn't solve the Champions bullpen, as RHP Miles Sheehan and RHP Ryan Leach shut them out over 3.2 combined innings.
The three-game set will continue tomorrow at 7:05 p.m., before Ottawa returns home for the international series at RCGT Park. The Champions play Team Dominican Republic June 19-21, with the Caribbean team joining the Can-Am League for the second season.
