Champions Fall Victim to Mother Nature, Lose Rain-Shortened Game

Ottawa Champions News Release
OTTAWA - INF Cody Regis squeaked in the go-ahead solo home run right before Mother Nature reared her ugly head Friday night in Pomona, NY.
His sixth-inning shot pulled the Rockland Boulders ahead of the Ottawa Champions 2-1, and stood as the game winner right before a torrential downpour began. The game was deemed official through seven innings after a 31-minute rain delay.
Offensively, the Champions had opportunities to drive in runners but ultimately left nine of them on base. The only run of the ballgame came from INF Jordan Caillouet, who stayed hot with a solo home run. He has two in as many games, including a grand slam in Thursday night's series opener.
RHP Austin Chrismon threw all six innings for the Champions, and would be charged with a loss despite his strong performance. He allowed seven scattered hits, while not allowing a hit. Only one of his two runs was earned.
The Champions and Rockland continue their series tomorrow night. Ottawa still has six games remaining on their final road trip of the 2018 regular season.
Tickets for all Champions home games are available at www.ottawachampions.com, in-person at the RCGT Park box office, or by calling 613-745-BALL (2255).
