OTTAWA - The Ottawa Champions blew a six-run lead but rallied to win their second straight game on Saturday, an 11-8 victory over the New Jersey Jackals.

Kyle Chavez was credited with his first win with the Champions after taking over for Heath Bowers in the fifth inning. Bowers struck out eight and walked seven over four innings, allowing three earned runs on four hits.

Leonardo went 3-for-3 with two RBI and a walk and Malik Collymore went 2-for-4 with a walk and three stolen bases. New Jersey scored three runs in the third and three more in the sixth to erase a six-run deficit, but the Champions dug in their heels and scored three more runs over the seventh and eighth innings.

Ottawa put up five runs in the third to make it 8-2 Champions, three of which were attained off an error by Jackals first-baseman Isaac Wenrich that allowed Adron Chambers to reach second and Eduard Pinto, Larry Balkwill and Michael Baca to score.

The Jackals jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first thanks to some sloppy defensive play from the Champions, but Ottawa came right back with three runs of their own.

The Champions go for the sweep tomorrow at 1:35 p.m. at RCGT Park.
