Cedar Rapids RoughRiders News Release

Cedar Rapids, Iowa- Cedar Rapids RoughRiders forward Jacob Cepis has been named one of the team's assistant captains, the RoughRiders announced today.

"This was a very easy choice," said RoughRiders Coach and General Manager Mark Carlson. "Jacob has evolved as a player and as a person during the last year and a half. He leads by example every shift, he's tough and plays hard and he has a tremendous passion for the RoughRiders and for the sport of ice hockey. Nobody wants to win hockey games more than this guy."

Cepis will wear the "A" on his sweater for the first time this weekend when the Riders visit Indiana for games against the Ice Friday and Saturday nights. Cepis will be the Riders' fourth letter-wearer, joining captains Evan Stephens and Scott Wietecha and assistant captain Brett Dickinson.

Cepis, 19, leads the United States Hockey League in goals (25) and points (52) and is tied for seventh in assists (27). In just his last 11 games, Cepis has scored eight goals and totaled 19 points.

Cepis is now in his second season with the Riders. The Parma, Ohio, native scored 12 goals and collected 29 points last year after being selected by Cedar Rapids in the third round of the May, 2005 USHL draft with the thirty-second overall choice.

Cepis will begin his college career at Bowling Green next season.

The RoughRiders (22-12-1, 45 points) are one point behind the Waterloo Black Hawks in the race for first place in the USHL's East Division. Both of this weekend's games against the third place Ice face off at 6:05PM.

Tickets for all remaining RoughRiders regular season home games are now on sale. Tickets are available for purchase in person at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena ticket office, over the phone at (319) 261-4625 or online at roughridershockey.com. The ticket office is open from noon to 5:00PM on weekdays and from noon through the end of the second period on game days. Ticket prices range from $7 to $17 in advance and from $8 to $18 on game days.
