Indianapolis Indians News Release
INDIANAPOLIS -- Victory Field will be the place to be this Memorial Day as the Indianapolis Indians host a special celebration to commemorate the holiday honoring our nation's fallen combatants. As part of the festivities on May 27, the Tribe will don camouflage jerseys, courtesy of the Indiana National Guard, before capping off the evening with a post-game fireworks show. The contest will begin at a special start time of 6:05 p.m. with gates opening at 4:30 p.m.
"The Indianapolis Indians wear camouflage jerseys on Memorial Day to elevate the awareness of our men and women in the military, and to provide our fans with the opportunity to come to Victory Field to help us acknowledge the sacrifices made by people who have dedicated their lives to the service of our country," said Indians Vice President and General Manager Cal Burleson.
During the contest, fans will have the opportunity to bid on the camouflage jerseys worn by their favorite Indians players and coaches. Proceeds from these one-of-a-kind Memorial Day jerseys will be donated to the Indiana National Guard Relief Fund.
The Indiana National Guard Relief Fund started in 2003 to provide financial assistance to Indiana soldiers and their families who experienced difficult situations due to the mobilization of family members or in times of financial hardship. The fund is a private, nonprofit corporation with the mission of giving monetary help to soldiers and military families in need.
The Indians will also be offering their popular Monday Dollar Menu, where fans can enjoy ballpark favorites hot dogs, Cracker Jack, peanuts, popcorn and potato chips for the discounted price of just $1 each, and cap off the grand celebration with a fantastic post-game fireworks show.
Monday's Memorial Day festivities are just the beginning of the Tribe's upcoming four-game homestand. Along with the special holiday celebration, the Indians will also feature their regularly-scheduled promotions as they host the Pawtucket Red Sox, Triple-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, through Thursday, May 30.
Come out and celebrate summer with your Indianapolis Indians. Tickets for the Memorial Day celebration and the rest of the Tribe's 2013 season are currently available by clickinghere, through the Indians' single-game ticket hotline at 317-269-2282 or by visiting the Victory Field Box Office on Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
