Today's Game
The Buffalo Bisons take on the Indianapolis Indians in the first game of a four-game set from Coca-Cola Field (7:05 p.m.). The Herd opened its eight-game homestand with a four-game series split with Charlotte that ended with an 8-7 extra-inning win on Tuesday night.
First Place Herd
The Bisons have been tied or alone in 1st place over the last 32 straight games played. It's the longest stretch since 2007, when the club led for 65 consecutive games, May 5-July 16. In 2007, the Bisons spent 76 games in 1st place of the division but failed to make the playoffs.
vs. Indianapolis
The Bisons are 1-3 against the Indians this season, having lost a series at Victory Field, May 14-17. The Herd was 3-5 against the Indians in 2012, dropping three of the four at Coca-Cola Field. The Bisons have not won a series against Indianapolis in Buffalo since going 3-1 in a four-game set, June 19-22, 2004.
Justin Germano
RHP JUSTIN GERMANO makes his eight start of the season tonight. The righty was the hard-luck loser against the Indians his last time out, allowing just two runs in seven innings of a 2-1 loss on May 17. Germano has walked one or fewer batters in six of his seven starts.
J.J. to B-lo
The Blue Jays announced that RHP JOSH JOHNSON will start for the Bisons on Saturday. The two-time NL All-Star has been on the disabled list since May 2 with right triceps inflammation. He began his MLB rehab assignment on Monday in Dunedin (A) and allowed one run on three hits in three innings of work with five strikeouts.
1-2 Punch
INF JIM NEGRYCH (.394) and INF LUIS JIMENEZ (.364) hold the two best batting averages in the International League. The duo is also 1-2 in the IL in on-base pct. with Negrych at .455 and Jimenez at .442. Negrych ranks tied for 3rd in doubles (16) and 4th in hits (54), while Jimenez leads the IL in RBI (42) and is tied for 5th in home runs (9).
Mr. Clutch
ANDY LAROCHE'S 10th-inning single Tuesday was his second walk-off hit of the season. The Herd's other walk-off win this season came courtesy of a LaRoche 11th-inning double on May 3 vs. the Bats.
The Blue Jays (19-27) picked up their own walk-off win on Wednesday. After clubbing two home runs, OF JOSE BAUTISTA hit an RBI-single in the bottom of the 10th inning of a 4-3 win over Tampa Bay. Former Bisons OF ANTHONY GOSE started in left field and was 1-4 with a run. The Blue Jays host the Orioles tonight at 7:07 p.m.
