Toledo Mud Hens News Release

The Gwinnett Braves rallied for four sixth inning runs to overcome a three-run deficit and defeat the Mud Hens 7-5 in Gwinnett on Thursday night.

The evening started out great for the Mud Hens after Ramon Cabrera, Kevin Russo and Quintin Berry rallied for an RBI a piece to give the Hens a 3-0 lead in the second.

Gwinnett earned a run back with a sacrifice fly in the fourth, but the Hens quickly extended the lead to 5-1 in the fifth after Bryan Holaday tripled with two outs to score two and give Toledo the four-run lead. The Hens' lead was short-lived after the Braves roughed up Ramon Garcia and Al Alburquerque for five runs between the fifth and sixth innings to take a 6-5 lead.

The Braves added an insurance run in the eighth off Brayan Villarreal to seal the 7-5 victory for Gwinnett.

The Mud Hens will look for revenge tomorrow in the second game of the series at 7:05 p.m. Ace lefty Jose Alvarez (4-2, 1.98) is scheduled to make the start for Toledo.
