The Silver Sox (7-14) let the Cracker Cats sneak by in an 8-6 loss that went into extra innings last night.

In only his second game as a starting pitcher for the Silver Sox, Kevin Frederick (0-1) threw six innings, giving up three runs on eight hits, and striking out three batters. Relieving Frederick was Mario Guilin (2-0), who pitched 1.2 innings, allowing three runs on one hit, while striking out three. Finishing out the game for the Silver Sox pitching staff was Eduardo Del La Cruz (0-1) who threw 2.1 innings, and gave up two runs off three hits, and striking out two.

The Silver Sox hitting was not as potent as it normally was as the team had six runs on nine hits. 3B John Hattig scored the first run of the evening when he reached on a fielder?s choice to bring in LF Ryan Crespi. Hattig went one for five, and had three RBIs, two of which came off a two run homer in the third.

RF Juan Senreiso also had a good hitting night as he went three for five with two RBIs which included a solo shot over the right field wall in the fifth inning. Having lead for most of the game the Silver Sox couldn?t hold on as the Cracker Cats jumped ahead in the eighth inning when they scored three runs off Silver Sox relief to take the lead 6-5. The Silver Sox responded when Steve Alexander reached on a fielder?s choice to score the tying run.

As the game went into the tenth inning the Cats managed to score two more runs. The Silver Sox bats weren?t able to produce as they dropped the series with the Cracker Cats 2-1.

The Silver Sox begin a three game series against the Calgary Vipers tonight. Don?t forget fans that tomorrow Saturday, June 21 is Bill Pearce T-Shirt night. The first 500 fans through the gates of Peccole Park will receive a free T-shirt courtesy of Bill Pearce Motors. Also, tomorrow is a double header and the gates open at 4 P.M. with a game start time of 5 P.M.
