Armada Slows Down Flyers
June 20, 2008 - Golden Baseball League (GBL)
Orange County Flyers News Release
The Orange County Flyers finally found an opponent who could slow down their bats at least for one night. The Long Beach Armada held the Flyers to just one run on four hits en route to a 7-1 win at Blair Field Friday night.
SP Nick Bierbrodt and SP Troy Cate dueled for seven innings and both starting pitchers ended the night with no-decisions. Long Beach scored 6 runs against the Flyers bullpen in the 8th inning after an error and two hit batters set up the scoring outburst.
The Armada (12-10) received clutch hits from Cleatus Davidson and Chris Klemm to break it open.
The Flyers lone run came on a Pat Breen RBI triple.
The Flyers (16-6) will turn to Matt Merricks to get even in the series Saturday night at 7 p.m.
