Fort Worth Cats News Release
The Fort Worth Cats dominated a seven-inning, 3 hour 17 minute marathon game against the San Angelo Colts on Thursday, tallying 17 runs on 15 hits on the night.
The game was called in the top of the eighth inning due to stadium light failure. Just as Cats reliever Jorge Rodriguez began to throw his warm up pitches, the stadium lights went out. After 15 to 20 minutes of delay the lights began to come back on, but the umpires called the game, giving the Cats the victory.
The Cats (9-4) batted around three times in the game, notching four runs in the first inning and five runs in the third and fifth.
Cats infielder Shelby Ford went four-for-five in the game, including three doubles and five RBI.
Starting pitcher Aaron Wilkerson threw four innings, giving up four earned runs on five hits while walking two and striking out five batters. He earned the win.
Reliever Stephen Nikonchik came on for three innings of relief. He gave up one earned run on two hits, earning a three-inning save.
Colts second baseman Jon Dziomba, who played with the Cats last season, went hitless in four at-bats in his return to LaGrave Field.
San Angelo (6-7) has now lost four games in row. The Cats will look to make it five in a row on Friday, as they take on the Colts at 7:05 p.m.
