'Cats Fall to Boulders to End Road Trip
July 12, 2022 - Frontier League (FL)
Tri-City ValleyCats News Release
POMONA, NY - The Tri-City ValleyCats arrived at Clover Stadium looking to bounce back from a series loss in Sussex County over the weekend and end the road trip on a high note against the New York Boulders.
Tri-City struck early and often, tallying 8 runs in the first 4 innings with home runs by Frontier League All-Stars Pavin Parks and Brad Zunica, chasing Boulders starting pitcher Robby Rowland from the game after 4 innings of work. The Boulders bullpen however would shut down the Tri-City offense, holding them to just 2 hits and 0 runs over the last 5 innings of play.
On the other side of the ball, it was a historic day for the New York Boulders, who set franchise records for total home runs in a single game (9) and runs in a single game (23).
One bright spot for the 'Cats would be newly-minted Frontier League All-Star Brantley Bell's performance at the plate, going 3-for-5, scoring twice, and tallying an RBI. Fellow All-Star Pavin Parks would be the only other 'Cat to record a multi-hit game.
FINAL | NEW YORK (27-26) 23 TRI-CITY (27-25) 8
W: July Sosa (1-0)
L: Thomas Kretzler (0-1)
