Excitement Assured At End of Regular Season:

The Wildcats will end the regular season in second place in the Atlantic Division.

The PEI Rocket cross the Confederation Bridge to take on the Wildcats Thursday night at 7pm. Game sponsor is Irving Tissue, look for outstanding game prizes.

A preview of the first round of the playoffs is set for Friday night when the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles fly into the Coliseum for another 7pm start. Coast Tire is the game sponsor and some one could roll home a brand new set of tires along with other auto related prizes. It's also Bobble head night. Lots of great entertainment insured.

Rivalry Cup Round 8 - Sunday

It's Fan Appreciation Day and the nation will be watching the final game of the season next Sunday night when the Saint John Sea Dogs come to town for Round 8 of the Rivalry Cup. The Wildcats not only intend but expect to keep the Cup in Moncton with the confirmation Monday of 5 points in the food drive component of the competition. The Cats collected 12,695.85 pounds of food, while the Sea Dogs weighed half of their total which came to 4,000 pounds and they conceded giving the points to the Wildcats and upping Moncton's lead to 7 points going into the final regular season match up. The game will start at 8pm, (note the time change), to accommodate Rogers Sportsnet, who will carry the game across Canada and we understand the NHL network is also going to feature the marquee match up.

The prize list for the game is the best every, including cash, cars, furniture and a MAJOR prize announcement later this week. Fans will be eligible to shoot for the big prizes with a 50/50 ticket, watch the Coffee Cup and the website this week for all the exciting news. Tickets for the three remaining home games are available at the Coliseum Box Office - 506-857-4100.

Awards Voting Underway:

The coaching staff has provided the nominations for the voting portion of the 14th Annual Awards Night and Pep Rally set for the 18th, at the Wesleyan Celebration Centre at 7pm. Nominated for Most Valuable Player are David Savard, Scott Brannon, Nicola Riopel and Nicholas Deschamps. Daniel Pettersson, Devon MacAusland, David Savard and Ted Stephens are the nominees for Most Improved player, the Award is sponsored by Midland Transport. In the running for the Community Spirit Award are Brandon Gormley, Mark Barberio, Nicola Riopel and Daniel Pettersson, the Award Sponsor is Atlantic Lottery Corporation. Irving Tissue is the sponsor of the Unsung Hero Award, players vying for that honor are Scott Brannon, Mark Barberio, Daniel Pettersson and Randy Cameron. Nominated for Defensive Player are David Savard, Mark Barberio, Devon MacAusland and Brandon Gormley, sponsoring the Award is Labatt's. The four players nominated for Rookie of the Year are Market Hrivik, Allain Saulnier, Alex Saulnier and Patrick Downe, Bob's Copy is the Award Sponsor.

Other Awards to be handed out include, Top Goal Scorer, Top Point Scorer, the Children's Wish Foundation Fans Choice Award, the Don Matheson Scholastic Player of the Year, the Commitment to Excellence and the new ALC Volunteer of the Year.

Ballots are available from the Times&Transcript, the evening's presenting sponsor and can be dropped off at Pizza Delight locations in Moncton, Riverview, Dieppe, Bouctouche, Richibucto, Shediac and Cap Pele. You can also drop your ballots off at the Roar Store in the Coliseum.

Reading Is Wild In Final Week:

The total is now at 31,286 for the number of books read in this year's Reading is Wild program. The final numbers are expected later this week from Dorchester Elementary, Forest Glen, Beaverbrook and West Riverview schools. The Wildcats along with the Timres&Transcript and RBC are sponsoring the program aimed at promoting literacy. During its 12 year history, over half a million books have been read by students at elementary schools in South-Eastern New Brunswick. Books to the value of $1,000.00 are donated to each participating school and the students have already been guests at a Wildcats game as part of the reward program

Just Over A Week To The Playoffs:

Playoff ticket packages are now available at the Wildcats office with individual and round by round tickets at the Coliseum Box Office, call 857-4100 to get yours. We're waiting for final league approval but it looks like the post season will start on March 19th and given the standings, it will be the Wildcats and the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles in the first round..
